car got totaled, what to buy?

i was just in a wreck and the cops (there were 3) all said that the car was definatelly

1. good mileage, my camaro got about 17-18 highway/city and that was alright (would like to get better though)

2. must have speaker space, my camaro had the space but it was all spread out in weird dips and curves (want either a cargo area or a trunk)i want like an open area such as a trunk or rear cargo area.

3. budget, while i haven't gotten the check from the ins company yet, i imagine i'll only get a few thousand (like 2-2500) but im a newb when it comes to this ins. stuff and my parents don't know what i'll get out of it (any comparible stories or estimates would be good)but i do have a few thousand set back so that helps also as well as my parents helping so like $3-4000 tops

any other suggestions are welcome..........

if you can do like me and find a good deal on a civic, they will pay off. I got a 84 Civic DX for a grand, now im getting 40mpg and got the car for around $3k less than it's worth.

an OG diesel benz!!! yes! like 28 on the freeway, no smog checks, (cuz it will never pass), and will give you a good 500-700k miles if your nice to it.

teh trunk is HUGE HUGE and straightforeward. but you mite have prollems with the speakers up front hehe.

my 93 cavi was rear ended by a jeep, while stopped waiting to turn

89 240sx was rear ended by school bus, while parked out side my house

Might want to buy a 12 volt Pyramid electronic low-pass crossover for the receiver so it doesn't sound bad ...

ah yes i still have that ****er lol. someone on here did say to buy it though...
