Okay, basically I'm looking to start a project, if you don't feel like reading, hit the backspace button now.

Okay, if you're still here, let me tell ya what's happenin here.

Don't ask why, but I'm about to start a project car.

What I'm looking for : Chevrolet car(2600 lbs or lighter, preferably) that looks decent. I was looking at RX7's, but I hate the 80's models from them, and the newer ones are relatively expensive. Must be rear wheel drive(converting it would cost wayyyy too much).

So its needs:

Be a Chevy

Light

RWD

Doesn't need:

Engine/Transmission

ALL I NEED is the car without the engine/******(don't care if its there, who cares if it's blown)

Engine I'm going with - 4.2l inline 6 out of an Envoy. I'm getting a lot of bull about this, it's "made" for towing. 275 hp at 275 ft lbs of torque, I just wanna drop it in(and find me a 5 spd ****** to hook up to it) and then modify the engine a bit, have a little fun, as you can understand.

Light that looks good(or would look good) with a decent body kit and say 18's or 19's, help?

*Note* - For those who hate ricers, I was going to do a mustang but the one I'm buying(if I buy one) is a 68 with the original 289, and I cant hotrod it, I'd feel horrible.

Help? Ideas? Any?

And no, I don't wanna drop a 454 or a 383 in the car, don't ask.

Chevette meets all those requirements plus it's cheap ... and, since it's a project car, I'm guessing it doesn't matter if it's a complete piece of shit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Chevy ? - Yes

Light ? - 2130 lbs

RWD ? - Yes
true but there is a bit of a problem fitting an inline six in that.

id say to find a 3rd gen fbody (firebird/camaro) they are cheap and plentiful. so many parts around its not funny. but i dont know the dimentions of the I6 motor. might be too tall. i seriously hope you have the entire trailblazer to use all the wiring for the motor. if not forget it. i doubt painless wiring makes anything for the trailblazer motor.

Gotta think about that inline 6 is going to be longer than a v-8 becuase of the 2 extra cylinders. Don't know if that will fit in an 80s Chevette. If anything check around for late 70s-mid 80s for your car type. That also happens to be one of the worst decades in car quality manufacturing IMO.

If your looking to buy a car go to http://www.transampontiac.com

I'm still thinking

The chevette is uglier than hell, is it not?

And lets see, Malibu is FWD, correct?

Hrmm, as far as the electronics go for the engine, no I won't have all of them, it can't be that expensive can it?

If shit comes to worse, justp ut a 383 in there I suppose, but I want that I6.

I'm figuring about 1,000 for the wiring(more?)

the newer malibu is fwd. the old one was a g-body and was the same as the grand prix, regal, cutlass and monte carlo. the I6 motor is a cool idea as the usually make pretty good torque but it is impractical. a small block chevy is soo much cheaper, cost effective and leaves you so many more options for cars.

i wanted to buy a 2 door volvo 240 and find a wrecked lt1/t56 camaro and make a bad *** volvo at one time but now im considering something similar in my 84 toy ex cab pickup.

Uhmm.. NOVA....light as fuk, decent engine bay...or an earlier malibu...

You gotta remember, since this is a project car, if the car starts out at lets say..2900lbs, you can cut out all the excess parts of the car you dont need, and literaly cut off huge sections of the body, and re-weld it w/ lighter metal.
