one of the final bumps..I am pretty sure I'm getting the Si (up to my dad now) but now wondering what should I do first? The stock system is.."decent" so I can leave it alone for a little while before indash dvd, 3ways, etc.

I'm thinking get a nice catback, CAI, and re do all the piping (possibly get test pipes). Then get some Tein coilovers and drop it on 18's. (Volk's of some sort prolly)...what do you all think?

Sad to say this, but I would go with the civic. My dad works for GM and we own all Chevrolets, but from personal experience I would stay away from GM cars, at least the economy cars(i know the SS is a higher up trim, but still the stripped down cobalt is an economy car, lots of same parts.). Dont get me wrong, I love GM's trucks, I drive one myself, and I wouldent trade it anyday for a ford, dodge, toyota, nissan, honda, or whatever trucks out there on the market, except the Chevy Silverado SS lol.

As for a Civic si, they are good cars, honda has a good warranty, and as for which car is faster or not, it all really depends on what you do with it in the end. Account for the fact that the Cobalt has a SC, even though its a stock GM SC, its still there, so add one of equal performance to the SI and I would feel confident the SI could take it. But since I really doubt any performance company would produce an aftermarket SC that crappy, you'd have to go with a bigger, better one, or a turbo >=D!

Anyways, yea, SI has my vote between those two cars.. I'd still say go with a truck, I can at least climb a curb, lol.

If you do end up with the civic like you say you are likely to, do what most people do to any car first.. Exhaust, intake, and tune.

For the exhaust, get a nice header, catback, test pipes, and a cutout if you plan on racing. Cutouts may sound obnoxious on anything with less than 5 cylinders, but they arent expensive and can really see some nice gains in HP/TQ. They even make electric cutouts so you can open/close with the flip of a switch which is useful for cars because you cant always reach under and turn those wingnuts without a jack lol.

I would like CAI, catback, test pipes,...Headers would help but since I wannt get that K20AZ3 blown eventually I could run new headers for like a year. So yeah. But I'd also like to get new ECU, MSD Igni., Unorthodox Racing Pulleys....new rubber and rims, Tein coil's

Oh btw,...we are ordering the Si this week.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

I voted for the cobalt because I hate hondas. If it were me Id buy a 98 200sx se-r and swap a JDM SR20VE in it.
Parents won't let me do swaps. Besides I have plently of friends w swaps...S14 w/RB20DET (soon going to be RB26DETT), S14 w/RB25DET, a Geo w/SR20DET (hauls ***), S13 w SR20DET,...to name a few

Everyone calls it the Bluebird. I will try to find some. Not sure if he made any but I've seen it in person and yes it's pretty quick.
Bluebird is a type of car in Japan that has a sr20de-t engine in it.T-25 turbo top mount intercooler big cams. Basically a stock jdm engine w/turbo kit. There is also an avienir, almera, pulsar, sunny, primera all with sr20de-t motors. The sunny has a gti-r sr20de-t which has a different head and a t-28 turbo. There are also sr20ve and sr20ve-t not sold in the US. Which is a sr20 with neo vvl. VVL is nissan version of Honda's v-tech but unlike v-tech it will control both cams at once instead of either the exausht cam or the intake cam.

Fun stuff! Make sure you break it in before you go speeding around, at least 500 miles if tame driving lol. I know it will be hard, but it needs to break in evenly or can cause probs down the road. I drove my truck tame for 1000 miles and so far have 28,000 miles of pretty rough driving without a problem yet, except ****** going out, but that was from a freak accident where a retainer ring popped out and the servo came out, leaked all ****** fluid and drove for 1/2 a mile before I realized what was going on lol(warranty covered it, so new ****** has like 8k on it).

Anyways, good choice, i'd get a good(275$+) radar detector as first mod. not worth getting a ticket before your 25.. I have a 201$ ticket already and its going to cost me at least that much, maybe more for insurance each year.

Drive safe,

Lurius
