car dealership

My dad was hurt at work over a year ago and is getting a very large sum of money

for his injuries... we were looking for a car the other day and a friend of mine

owns his own car dealership, he told my dad the business and how he makes on

average about 15k a WEEK depending on how many cars he sells and hes only 24

years old. So my dad decided when he gets his settlement that i am going to be

in charge of the car lot. We were working out the figures for how much

everything is going to cost and how long its going to take before we actually

start profiting money. Since i am the manager i decide the hourly pay and i was

wondering.. does any one here know what a mechanic at a car dealership should

be getting paid about? I'd hate to underpay an employee and i'd be pissed if i

paid to much...??

Are you talking about starting a car dealership?? If so, I hope that large sum is in the 10-20mil range. If not don't waste your time, unless you are talking about a used car lot with 10-30cars on it.

You're 17 right now and your dad wants to put you in charge of probably a multi-million dollar investment? is he ignorant or just plain dumb with his money?

I hope your dad also has a degree in business management or some sort of experience, that's just not something you can go into and "wing it".

How about this. Instead of miserably failing, ultimately claiming bankruptcy and ruining your name for all future generations. You just send me the money //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

A car dealer's mechanic can make anwhere from $15-$25/hr. I would say start them off at ~$17/hr with $0.50 raises every 6 months.
Nope, they work by the jobs they do. Oil changes are like 5bucks, etc etc etc... atleast that is how it is at most chevy dealers.

umm...example

say a mechanic is given a job that is supposed to take 4 hours, and he (being the good mechanic that he is) gets it done in 1.5 hours. he still gets paid for the 4 hour job. and mechanics usually start at 30k a year and within 5 years are about 50k depending on how good they are.

and yes, i think your idea is idiotic.

no no no no no no no no no no wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong

1st off its a used car lot... buy used cars at auctions fix them up to running condition then

sell them to make a quick penny or two... its not going to be a multi million dollar investment

2nd... my friend michael (24) that owns and operates his own used car lot is going to

help us get started and get all the legal stuff done

3rd... already have a lawyor

4th.... i'll be in charge, so be it

5th... this isin't going to be happening soon, were just trying to figure out the math

to see if its worth the investment and see about how much we will make, all circumstantial

right now, but maybe possibly just might do this
