dumb question i know but i have some old alpine type s 6.5 componets laying around is there a way i can hook them up to my computer

right now i have a logitech x230 speakers and a sub hooked up but lookin for better sound

Make enclosures for the Alpine's and run them off a receiver which you just hook to your audio out on the PC

OR

the DIY route: Use the Logitech amps/crossovers to power the Alpine's still making enclosures for them.

System Components 2 speakers, subwoofer

Speaker Type Active

Nominal Output Power (Total) 32 Watt

Max (RMS) Output Power (Total) 64 Watt

Response Bandwidth 40 - 20000 Hz

Signal-To-Noise Ratio 96 dB

Audio Amplifier Integrated

Connectivity Technology Wired

Controls Subwoofer volume control, volume

Driver Details Speakers Included 2 x satellite speaker - 6 Watt - wired

1 x subwoofer - 20 Watt - wired

Details Satellite speaker : 2 x high/midrange driver - 2" - Frequency Directed Dual Driver (FDD2)

whats the model?

edit: X230 Found it..

Ok well the amps on that little system run at 4ohm. You will want more than the 12WRms (if you are lucky) that Logitech claims it does.

What are the model numbers of the Alpines?

i have the type r componet set

the type r model # is SPR-17LS

i also have type s tweeters

dunno bout the model # on the type s tweets

I had a set of Infinity Reference 6.5 comps I had around the house and hooked them up to a older Kenwood Reciever for power. The signal came in from the computer via a wire (3.5 mini plug on one end, and a pair of RCAs on the other) that I got from Radio Shack. Even without an enclosure, they sounded wonderful and loud as hell.

I watch DVDs in my room all the time, and my stock computers speakers was not cutting it. Main problem I had was crossing them over. I use Windows Media Player's EQ to clean up the sound a lil bit and remove some of the lower frequencies but I really need some active crossover to really make it shine. I also got a AA assassin 12 that im goin to get reconed and use as a sub in the room as well.

The whole deal cost me little or nothing. I bought the reciever from my uncle for about $20. F-Mod Rca plug in crossovers should work fine and offer something to clean up the sound a lil bit.
