Alrighty, lemme see if i can type this with out laughing. I have a 91 accord wagon, with STOCK fronts........stock.........a 9857 alpine HU, a crappy temp wiring job, and a mrd-m1005 running a type-x in a 2.4 cube (subwoofers tools) box @ 32hz. I have so much dimming im embarassed, the big three is half way done. No deading. Granted that i will have 2 type-xs running off of a 2500D orion, with a type-x mid bass kit and 5.25 type-x components and two yellow tops in about a month, BUT I DONT HAVE THEM NOW. Anyway, i did a few installs around here and word got around that i do good work. Some car club president came by here earlier and was like, Ive heard your work, its outstanding. He then went on to say (after hearing my 1000W system that cant be getting more than 700w atm) that i could beat out most of his club........83db......thats the sesitivity of a type-x.......MOVING ON! He wants me to start installing stuff for his club............i have almost NO experience. Im an aircraft electrician so when it comes to that im good, but ive done NO glass work to date and ive installed two type-r systems, one PG system and mine.....thats it. So anyway, do i forge ahead an lean on my good craftsmanship and grey matter to make some money or bow out gracefully? If not, what kind of subs should i start flinging? SDs for sure, FIs? (what kind) and Assassins? And some poor fool wants my help with DB drag...(its germany they think MAGNAT is a good brand).....so what do i do?

There are a ton of people in europe that can help out with DB Drag, just tell that guy to look on termpro and start taking notes....or better yet go on talkaudio.uk and hook up with some of those guys.

Btw, Magnat does have a couple of nice subs out //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif ... they maybe the Audiobahn of europe, but they're not tooooo bad for what you pay for.

i say do the installs. you'll learn a little and make a little cash. and car clubs can be helpful in socail aspects, alot are mechanics and have other professions which might be of help to you as well. it certainly isn't rocket science doing car installs. you can read TONS about it online and i would also suggest learning how to build boxes as you can make more $ that way. deadening a car is easy as well. they buy the subs etc you do the installs and build the box and they throw you some $. i wouldn't do glass untill you had done a few yourself but thats just me. as for what subs to suggest..it's really up to you.

i'd suggest the following but this is only what i like and have experience with:

CDTs/Rainbows for the interiors

Eclipse HUs w/ or w/o nav

W7/BTL/XXX for SPL subs

Q/w6/ for SQ i can't think of any others i'v heard and liked

Amps are a crap shoot imo. HiFonics/ARC/JL others are just as good.

Optima batteries and welding wire.

No Caps

Big 3

RAAMmat

If someone wants fancy RCAs let em buy em but average ones work just as well.

ya thats what i'd suggest...might as well learn how to install car alarms as well. if you make yourself really usefull to a club you'll get all sorts of things in return...

then again the guy sounds like an idiot and probably has a club of 6 cars...

Oh ive been building all the boxes for the installs that ive done, and i think thats what impressed them the most. Ive got 3 rolls or Raamat coming and ive already deadened an entire car, so ive got that under my belt. Guess i just give it a go and see how it turns out. If i get in over my head i can always give them the money back and tell them to have it do by a pro.
