Car choice help

Ok ive been wanting to buy my friends car for about a year. he's finally about to sell and i want it but im just not positive..so i figured id ask the nice folks here for some input.

I get Gas for $50 a fill up until college.

1. My 2000 explorer. 89,000 miles. 21mpg. ive redone the electrical to support 4krms and done quiet a bit of work on it.

2. his 1995 tahoe. 122,000 miles. matrix 50.5x w/ remote start. 5% tint all around. components up front and all aftermarket speakers. full flowmaster exhaust. 22"s. asking 7k for it.

no the hoe is the only car i actually want. ill be going to college soon and my travelling distance will be very limited. so im not too worried about gas. school right now is 15 min away. i dont drive anywhere else really..
