Car Audio Myths

The one I can't stand especially when shops say it is anything larger then a 12 will be sloppy and not sound as good and will be all over the place because of its suspension
this is true....there is a lot of reaserch behind it. 12s are the most acoustically rounded and perfect....

not really. companies just don't make 15" and 18" SQ woofers that often. although i was doing some testing the other day and was a bit surprised as to how well my 15 kept up with double bass.

This is a tough one to call a myth. It depends on how the woofer is designed. A L7 15 is a great output woofer, but sounds like ****. The Focal 18" quad 1-ohm coil is very accurate and loud. Im gonna say take this one off the list.

Uhm no, it is not off the list. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif There is nothing inherent in a larger diameter subwoofer that makes it lack the ability to reproduce bass accurately. Just because many companies dont make a SQ oriented 18 does not mean larger subs = sloppy bass.

The heavier the woofer the louder it will play.

The heavier the amp the more power it can produce.

You can make a "quality" product with crap parts and sell it on here for a great price.

Thiele-Small specs are worthless (but all manu's put them in the box and use them as ref)

You can use a battery to "make power"

You can get more power out of a amp than you put into it.

If you upgrade the fuse in your amp you get more power(PDX1000.1 excluded)

A cap will help your electrical system

You can blow a speaker from too little power.

You can damage a speaker from to much distortion.

The gain knob=Volume

DVC subs are louder.

If you load you doors with P.A. speakers you are cool

Quality install for a good price is overated.

The guy down the street will do it the same way for half the price and he says it will sound better.

Thats it for now.

clipping is a form of distortion so yes, it does damage speakers lol

clipping doesn't damage speakers...heat does
...and clipping increases heat. i figured you'd get the connection so i didn't have to write it out. you're making me waste my time on a friday //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

there is a reason for that...

Well no shit it does but clipping itself still doesn't damage speakers....the heat it causes does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

Sealed boxes do not produce continuous bass...

I'm the loudest in the county...
