car audio install school

Has anyone been to the Installer Insitute down in Holly Hill, FL in the Daytona Beach area. It seems to something that would help me out with general information and box building over the summer. I hope make a career out of installing audio. Where are some places you guys have been to school the prepare for such career? What did you major in? I was thinking electrical engineering, but is there something else that would help me in the car audio field?

i dunno...

i am going to school for my Mech.E. and EE....that way I can go into car audio as well...but for something like speaker design...

Honestly IMOH its not worth it. Go around to your local shops, and ask them if you could aprentice or work for them, and see if they would be willing to train you. Installer Institute is expensive. Plus all of those nice custom installs that involve glass and custom enclosures, Stuff like that is learned over time, and not in 6 weeks.

installation school is like bartending school. ya you go through the actions and learn a little of the science behind it but a good car audio shop would only hire someone out of school if they were DESPERATE. and around here you would only get 10-12 bucks an hour.years ago i thought i wanted to do it for a living and then i realized the pay cap. you only do really well if it's your shop or you work in a high end car audio shop(not tweeter). oh and besybuy or CC will train you for free i believe. you could get everything out of that school from reading a few websites btw.

just some examples. also as someone stated above if you were to go to school for EE or ME if would allow you to do fun things like design amps and speakers and you would be getting paid enough you wouldn't do it yourself(unless it's really your thing) and pay a shop to do it. or get any other job which there would be many with a double degree...course it's a crap load of work doing a double in me and ee...

all i know is there is no 4 week course that will get me a job making 20+ an hour...

What would you say that? I looks like it may help, unless you are referring to people (like this forum) providing help and instruction so that individuals may do it themselves.

Too hard to make real money...

shorting ROFO is about the best way I know.
