Well more specifically, my new subwoofer has got me into rap music.

Here is the short story: This week I finished installing a beautiful TC3k and Sundown 1500 to round out my system. Previously I had a cheap shitty sub to hold me over till funds allowed the real deal. Anyway, I thought I would make a rap CD just to give it a whirl and see what it was like being a white guy bumping around town. So I had a friend of mine who is a hip-hop afficiando give me a list of some real mainstream stuff, and to it I added "Late Night Tip" and "Air Forces".

Here is the tracklist, I'll star the ones I liked:

**50 cent - Outta Control

**Three 6 Mafia - Late Night Tip

***Bone Thugs N Harmony - Home

Ludacris - Stand Up

*Common - Be

**Ghostface Killah - The Champ

**Ice Cube - Why We Thugs (this songs hits LOW!, 31hz according to audition)

Lupe Fiasco - The Instrumental

Nas - Hip Hop Is Dead

*Young Jeezy - Air Forces

Pharoah Monch - Simon Says

Sean Paul - We Be Burnin

*Talib Kweli - Get By

**Kanye West - All Falls Down

haven't listened to these yet:

The Game - Hate It Or Love It

The Roots - Guns Are Drawn

Wu Tang Clan - Yall Be Warned

* - liked

** - really liked

*** - loved

The Bone Thugs was so good. I'm definitely gonna get my friend to make me another mix. It was mostly the laid-back style stuff I like. I was surprised how "mellow" some of it was, I guess it is the hardcore gangster type rap that has turned me off for so long.

This is a pretty crazy turn of events for me, I am a pretty big music snob (so I've been told) and I have always turned up my nose at rap being "not real music" genre.

PS - Late Night Tip is ****ing NUTS.

The Rick Ross cd has some good songs to play. As a whole, pretty much any rap music thumps...not one song that really stands out as a "go to".

Now, rap sounding good?...that's another topic.

I used to listen to a lot of rap. Then my system was stolen and I pretty much stopped listening to rap completely. Now that I have bass again I am getting back into rap.

Another thing is that I was pretty disappointed with my metal stuff and the new subwoofer. Most of it has really fast kickdrums as we all know, but it doesn't sound good if it's too loud. I mean the sub reproduces it great, in a large sealed box, but it's just not as much fun as huge rap bass.

Listen to a band called Coldseed. The lead singer is the singer for Soilwork. This band has bass that will rival many rap songs.

If you fancy yourself a music snob stop listening to that trash and check out some hip hop with substance in the lyrics.
