Car Audio for Retards

The title says it all.

I want a new audio system, but i don't know what to get.

I dont know jack about subs, amps, decks, etc.

Here are some things i am looking at:

I want to get the most bang for my buck, money isn't a huge issue, but i dont want to drop 3G's on a sound system. I am putting it in a 2003 tahoe

I suggest you do it right the first time. With a tahoe, you have a lot of room and options. Start slow if you have to. Do your electrical upgrades and inside speakers first. And depending on where you live, an alarm too. Then move on to the substage. Trust me, you got a nice truck and you could do a real nice setup in it.

The budget itsnt an Issue, i just want a good quality good all around system that wont cost a ton (2-3G's)

I already have a bose system in the car, so thats pretty good

That Alpnie HU is not a bad price for what it can do.

Go with an 18 inch HDC as well as a 2200watt amp from this company

get a box made for that sub and you will be decent. I didn't really believe in boxes until I got mine made. Even at low power, it sounds better than the box I had.

get a nice amp for your highs.

Get a 1/0 kicker amp kit or wiring from knukonceptz.com. make sure it's 1/0 gauge.

I would suggest upgrading your alternator, front battery, and adding a rear battery as well.

For ALternator, I would suggest Mechman. PM him here by the same name.

For batteries, I haven't tried many. I used Kinetiks, or Optima batteries. Others have tried other brands with success.

Then as far as subs go with 2 alpine type e's 12" grab yourself a small alpine amp and there you go.

TYPE E's are the best bang for your buck at low budget first time setups. i will argue that.
