I have the chance to pick up a 92 240SX hatch. The KA is blown and gone and the ***** is gone. It was a 5 speed and the body is clean, with a hole on the frame rail I can fix. Now being its a roller the guy wants around $300 for it.

I plan on running a CA18DET in it and possibly a Sileight conversion. With this car on top of my tahoe I would need to step out of CA for a while. Its a car Iv wanted for years and now have a chance, would you go for it if you were in my shoes?

I do have access to a shop and tools to do it BTW.

 
I did pretty much the same thing. Sold my old car with my system in it and bought the car I've always wanted (that had a blown engine). I miss the subs but it was worth it. Ironically enough this car has a nicer front stage with the stock amp than my old one did.

im constantly regretting spending all my money on CA and not on my cars engine. mostly never got the the engine cause my car is an automatic and i figured its silly to waste my time, but lately ive really been wanting to save up and pick up an old teg or prelude or something...

 
I've been wantng a 240 lately. I work at a nissan dealership and within our chain there are 5 dealership around. At the one downtown there are 2 techs that play around with those 240s. One has a vq35hr in it twin turbo that's still in progress. Also has na 3.5 another with a sr20det. And has plans on putting a q45 v8 in his next one if he can't fit a 5.6 Titan motor.

Within a few years I plan to buy one and put a rb25 in it just to play around.

Personaly if I had to do it over again. I would have gotten the KA twin cam and turbo charged it. Dont knock the power of the KA that fuggin engine is tuff!

RB20 Or RB25?

I love the sil80. I would, but I love the sound of the CA. I have never heard a KA that was complete done though. And did you find it rewarding?

 
This was my RB20 build.

The KA is a torque monster and built for it, It is the exact same engine that the nissan trucks have.

But then again it really depends on what you are going to do with the car. The CA is an alright engine..... Most go that route due to it being cheaper and easy to get parts for.

The RB was pretty spendy and at the time was hard to get parts for. I did it because I wanted a Skyline and I knew I was never going to get one imported so I did the next best thing.

The SR is a good path too. they used to be 500 for a full kit now they are in the 2k-3k price range for a front clip. And you really didnt have to modify much to get the engine installed since they came stock with them in Japan.

I did my swap LONG before the 240 gig got blown way up.

 
If you are serious about doing some 240sx mods and intend to purchase I can put in in contact with some very good people.

One of them is a guy I went to high school with and now owns his on Turbo manufactoring shop. JGS Presicion in Coos Bay OR.

Considering the CA is already a turbo that makes it a little easier on me, eventually stepping up to the turbo off of an SR.

The 240 has no ***** or engine so if I bought a KA + ***** + turbo I would be over what the CA would cost with a FMIC so I dont know if that does me any good. Have you ever ran a CA or know anyone who has?
