I recently misplaced my key. My car has a remote starter and i can get in the car, but I can't move it. How hard would it be to have that second key removed from the remote start thing and copied and replaced? Hopefully I am clear enough. When it was originally installed i had to have 2 keys because one stays in the car. To make matters worse i have one of those transponder keys that will cost like 40 dollars or more to copy. Has anyone ever dealt with something like this?

If you can find the box that holds the key than yes all you have to do is take it out of the box and then u can have a new one made. Put key back in the box and you are ready to go.

On a typical install where would that box more than likely be located? Only one i know how to get to is my valet button

It could honestly be anywhere but the best place to start is under the dash on the drivers side. Mine is under my center console, also another good place is behind the glove box.

The only way to know for sure without looking is asking the person that installed it.
