capacitors?

well if i decided i still wanted one, which one should i get?

Seriously, I am sorry but I can't help you other than to say I would go with the cheapest I could find (since I don't think they help).

 
Capacitors are completely useless in car audio.

They do not take any load off of anything. Your alternator charges the capacitor, so maybe for a second or so that alternator isn't directly powering your system, but once that capacitor drops a couple volts, which happens almost instantly, the load goes right back to your alternator, and if the alternator isn't powerful enough to keep up at that point, the load jumps to your battery. Now what good did that capacitor do? Oh right....none...

Your alternator and battery ultimately carry the ENTIRE load of the audio system.

Follow me here and tell me if this logic makes sense....

-Alternator powers capacitor

-Capacitor powers audio system

=

-Alternator doesn't power audio system

Is it just me or is that far from a reasonable conclusion given the previous two points?

Some people say "well the capacitor is just supposed to help your alternator keep up with the power demands blah blah blah" in essence they are saying that the capacitor makes the alternator have a smaller power demand because of the power it provides temporarily. This again just doens't make sense logically. Every single bit of power the capacitor has, came from the alternator, and the capacitor will never have a single bit of power in it again after it has drained unless the alternator powers it up.

Has this sunk in yet? You don't need a capacitor, it won't help a weak electrical system, it doesn't save anything from powering anything.

DUde people like you need to be banned after what that guy above just wrote. YOU DONT NEED A CAP IT DOES NOTHING

but give you neon lights. I agree we need to sticky CAPACITORS are useless at the top of electrical

Dude first off, cut all of that shit like dis mang u cud out seriously typing like that is so ****ing annoying to read. Why would you want to learn the hard way instead of doing it right the first time around when like 20 people are telling you that capacitors are a waste of time and money and wires!

Geez just please read the forum a little bit more and then ask questions, obviously here you get flammed for alot of shit but you learn from it

first off, **** the alternator job do the big 3 thats so much easier to do.... and much cheaper. Your only going to need a new alt if your system is pushing like 1000+ watts(real watts that is)

1. Its annoying...... period.

2. Im not flaming you...alot of other people would though.

3. The big 3 is COMPLETELY opposite of straining your alternator... It just simply lets more current flow through to your battery, which will flow to your amps connected to your battery. So ultimately it takes the strain off the battery.

I have always wondered this about people who like the big azz subs and whatnot, it seems they know little and care little about the performance (minus adding a fart pipe exhaust system).

I know a guy who has a newer sports car (a Z), now this thing from the factory is O.K. I guess (comapred to a corolla or something),

but when the bass hits his lights still look *****'n good (he has a cap), but you can watch his tac drop and his oil pres drop.... oh but the lights still look good....seems silly, this is your car telling you it is not ment for this stuff ESPECIALY the little low displacment jap cars/econ cars, and all one is doing is putting a cosmetic band-aid on the issue

anywho...

***And to the guy wanting the cap, I think what these guys are telling you is that it isnt going to help, so buy any cap you want...as you will end up with the same (more or less) end result; so using the the perviously mentioned information, if it makes you feel better go buy the cheapest one..

The wires go from the batt to a fuse box...wtf and also I can't trace the wire to the Alt..

I'll pay too

Dude doing the big 3 costs less than $50(ESPECIALLY IF YOU BUY THE WIRE ON THIS FORUM) and a cap can cost you up to $100!!!
