So run 12 gauge in the box, and 8 from amp to box. Problem solved.I know i dont need it its just Im broke as hell lol I do have some 12ga but there is only about 3 feet of it and there is no way that will fit go from the sub to where i have my amp positioned.
just trim off whatever doesnt fit and you will be just fine.Hey guy i cant seem to get my 8g wire to fit in my push terminals so i was wondering if it ok that a little bit of the wire is not totally inside the terminal. And this is the only wire i have besides 0g which i know wont ever fit lol. And no i dont want to buy 10 or 12g because im an impatient **** and want bass NOW!!
no, it wont be like 9 ga wireIt's fine if it isn't all in, it just won't be the full 8gauge capacity for current flow, but it'll be like 9gauge. Or you can just cut a bit off the end, I did that to my speaker wire when I had to get two 10gauge's into the puish terminals.
Your fine, just make sure the way the wire stick out doesn't allow the + and the - to touch, or you'll have a short.

Yes I know this, my post was wrong. Sorry.no, it wont be like 9 ga wire
if that were the case....ever pulled apart a sub and looked at a coil?
the whole run of speaker wire would be just as useful if what you are saying is true.
just food for thought.....most coils are 20ga or so
Huge difference between solid conductor and stranded.no, it wont be like 9 ga wire

listen to him...if you only had 1 inch from your batt to your amp you could run really small wire and you would be fine...the reason you have to use big wire from your amp to you batt is because of the distanceAnd for the record, trimming a few strands off a wire to get it to fit in a terminal won't affect its current carrying capacity in the slightest.
In what regard? If they are the same gauge, they will have the same cross sectional area of conducting material. The Stranded will look thicker because there's some space between the strands.Huge difference between solid conductor and stranded.
