you'll have to run them stereo, one sub to each channel. you wont be able to get the most power out of the amp with those subs. You can look for a mono amp that puts out the power you need at 2 ohm, or look for DVC 4 ohm subs to get the most out of your current amp.
great thanks guys... I thought the old school rockford amps were bullet proof... I figured I could get away with a 2ohm mono load.. I just read the manual and I guess not..
I have run many RF amps at 2 ohm mono, and never blown any of them. Those were the old school DSM/IX type. You have the ones that came after that.... more of a trapezoid shape colored silver and gold correct? IIRC they kept most of the internal design the same on those amps. I would make sure that cooling is good, and electrical up to par, and give it a whirl.
The series of amps that he has are not nearly the same bulletproof design as the older DSM amps. The DSM amps (at least the smaller ones) were way overbuilt in regard to the low ohm load that they could handle.
You can't get a 2 ohm stereo load on the amp with a 2 4 ohm svc subs. Your choices are 4 ohm stereo with one sub wired to each channel or 8 ohm mono with the amp bridged and the subs wired in series. I'd go with the first option.
