Can't decide what sub to run. Rebuilding after car was stolen.

So, on the bright side I get to start with a clean slate! No trying to save anything from the last build lol.

Subwoofer wise I would like something that digs really deep.

American bass 18?

Incriminator audio 18?

I have a pair of jl audio 10w1's laying around also, could those be used as mid-bass drivers? lol something like 70+hz while an 18 covers the good stuff? or am i wasting my time thinking the 10's are even useful?

i'd leave them out of your setup and use actual midbass drivers. Subs will always hit too low even with a good high pass filter. Which will in turn cause cancellation issues.

Midbass is directional, and belongs in your front stage. I dont see you fitting those 10's in your doors or kicks without a lot of work.

i tryed that some time ago.

when i got back into car audio i picked up a 12" kicker sub.

used that for a little and wanted more.

so i got a soundqbed 15" sub. and i tried using the kicker sub as a midbass speaker

by sealing up the box, and setting the crossovers.

well it sounded like crap. i had less bass them with just the 1.

so i pulled the kicker out ans wow, what a difference.

so trying to use a sub and any other thing is not good.

and like said your midbass,midrange,tweeters need to be up front.

Do you space for a decent 18? You would be surprised at what a good 12 would do in the proper custom enclosure dude.

I intend on doing a fiberglass pan in the whole trunk area including the spare tire area. I figure I can get a good 5 cubes or more easily.

Either you want something good and will last awhile yeah you get what you pay for.

Incriminator audio is a brand name so is American bass... There just not over hyped and over priced like the sundown...
