Cannot figure this one out...

Ok, so I have four 12's, in two boxes with two amps. one amp,sub,box set sounds fine. the other sounds fine until it hits lower notes. it sounds just like the trunk rattling, exept its coming from inside the box. I dont think it could be the speaker wire resting on the bottom of the box, because I can reach in the port and i cant feel it vibrating enough to make that prominent of a sound. when I have my volume up ~50% the vibrating is almost louder than the bass...

the boxes are ported tuned to around 40Hz, and they are around .25 cu. ft smaller than recommended.

Any ideas?

Unhookem 1 at a time till ya narrow down which sub it is, and check to see if it is cooked.

I was gonna try that in the morn, but when its all off, i can push the cone in and out no problem, doesn't grind like its blown, doesn't smell blown either

could be dust cap separation, or tinsel lead...

Okay, so it is just one sub, and i tried switching amp channels, so it is the sub. and it sounds like if there was something rattling on the inside of the magnet almost.

It happens roughly once per cycle and its only audible on lower frequency's.

Free air, the sub flexes and seems to function the exact same as the others, free air.

the sub seems to not make the noise as much when the cone is horizontal and around 45 degrees. but when its vertical it makes the noise.

install it upside-down

j/k, check the spider and surround for separation..... watch the tinsel leads while it's playing/ making the noise, and, especially if it's an aluminum basket, make sure the motor/basket isn't loose
