Can You Run Higher RMS than Sub?

yep. thats the perferred method actually.

500w rms from the amp for a 400w rms sub.

that way you dont have to max out your amp to get the most from your sub.

but

if you do max out the amp, you will probly burn out the sub.

play with caution.

yep. hifonics are a bit over rated, so you would probly be closer to 1300w rmsfor your 1Kw rms sub. seems good to go by me.
wrong.

With proper eletrical, the hifonics will do rated power, but i wont go there right now.

Either way, its always better to get an amp with a higher RMS rating then the sub, in most cases. That way, you can feed a 500RMS sub a tuned 700RMS, and after such effects as impedence rise, efficiency, and actual music output, the sub will be getting close to its actual reccomended power.

Depending on the sub though, some can take much more than their rated power.

Allright thank you.
