Is there a way to fix this without reconing? Doesn't seem like I could reach in there to solder that biatch. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

EDIT: Also, was only running this off of a directed audio d2400 (1200 watts). Does it look like this was caused by my amp clipping like hell?

i fixed my tensils on my old insignia premium 12s all the time. its was time consuming and an head ache my kicker 2500.1 was just to much cause the subs to over excur

soldering iron and an gun will do the trick

i held my sub in the air and just let the solder iron it self drop into place so i was actually over the speaker with the solder iron and gun and just let it dropped into place like i said it was hard and time consuming but it did work

if it were me id get it reconed because even after the solder it just keep snaping in the exact same spot that i soldered in so from experience id just get it reconed

Well you can either reach in there, or it needs a new recone, right? And to make it a bit worse, it needs to have the old tinsel cut at each end, and a new one soldered, at each end.
so you mean it would be better to cut out a lot of the old one and solder in a new one? Yeah, that would be tons harder lol.

It's actually pretty easy, I've done it a few times. First take off the dust cap... next chip away where the CA glue covers the solder joint. Unsolder the half connected to the VC and pull it out, unsolder the half connected to the terminals, and take it off. Put a new lead in (I found it easier to put in from the top of the cone) and push it through, make it a lil longer the original and solder!

wait, so you knew you were clipping and just kept on clipping?

try learning how to set an amp and maybe this wouldnt happen.........

dude, are you a moron? I was asking if this was a symptom of a clipping amp. I don't know if my amp was clipping.

Even if you set your gains with a dmm, it won't tell you if your amp is clipping.
