can you ground second battery on frame?

i guess since you cant ground the back batt to the frame and get a good ground you also cant ground the front batt to the frame and get a good ground. so where exactly do you people that say you gotta run the back ground off the front batts neg suggest the ground should go? maybe drive a copper pipe into the ground and connect to that? i mean cars have been around how long? and they've apparently been doing it wrong the whole time. tell me exactly how the fuck the frame in the back is different than the frame in the front??

Go to a car lot and show me how many of those CARS, not truck have a fully boxed in frame //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

wat?

the discussion was the resistance of frame VS chassis VS 1/0 wire

and chad there is only 1 "if" in that statement //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

June Carter: There's too many "if"s and "not"s in that sentence.

Johnny Cash: There's only one actually. [shouting] There's only one "if" in that sentence, June! [to Jerry Lee] I-I thought it was a good point... I mean, there is only one.

dont pay him any attention, he already proved himself idiot of the day in the stetsom thread ealier today
indeed. I got a good laugh put of that myself. But to make him look like a fool again. Do you really think when the designers of these cars draw them up plan for someone to run a huge amount of power though them? NO. What a car normally draws is a fraction of what a full blown audio system can run. What's the Highest draw section of a car, the starter and headlights. Maybe the blower. Guess where the are, oh yea, right there close the the front battery. Not way in the back were it has to run across a dozen sections for the power to get back to the battery. What a fool.

the CHASSIS IS the FRAME people...

so this isnt a chassis vs. frame vs. 1/0 wire.

I havent had any issues with grounding my 2 batcaps 2000's in the back to the frame directly. i only have 1 positive 2/0 run of welding cable going to those 2 batcaps in the back. 12v+ full tilt with 200amp alt, on over 4kw rms. but i havent tried running a ground to the front batt to see if there would be any difference. the main reason why i would run a ground from the front, would be to run a ground directly from the alternator casing to the rear batteries. i wouldnt really benefit just grounding to my optima red top up front. my biggest power source are the 2 batcaps in the back which are grounded to the frame. then again, my redtop is grounded "closest" to the alt because of the big 3, they share the same ground, so then again it probably would benefit. Its something your going to have to do some "trial and error" on by measuring your voltage with each option to see what works best for YOU.

In this discussion I used chassis to refer to unibody, and frame to refer to the structure supporting the body in a non unibodied vehicle. Not up on my automotive vocabulary, but I think my point was clear.

i completely agree, but i just want to make sure the OP doesnt think grounding to the vehicle's body is the same as the chassis/frame. ive seen so much shit grounded to fenders / trunk supports / etc, all are closely mounted to the frame, but only by bolts/rivets etc. having a solid connection directly to the frame seems best IMO

if any of you could comprehend above a 1st grade level you would understand what i'm asking. how is running a wire no matter how big the wire is from the front battery any better if the front battery is grounded to the frame? simple really, the frame is the frame front or back. therefore it is a waste of time, energy and money to run wire from front to back for the ground.

oh yea, the other thread was to prove just how easy it is to get people all riled up. i could really care less about either of the companys mentioned in that thread as i would never waste my money on their products.
