Well heres my story.

Just recently traded in my car and got myself a truck again. Loved having a 4 door F-150 and never wanted to go back to a 2 door truck. Well after having to fight to get a good system in the F-150 I decided to go for a truck with a little more room and got a Dodge Ram Mega cab. Over the past few weeks I built a box and installed a RE SX12. I bought it from a member on here but never heard it on 1500w. Hell I never had a 1500w amp before.

Well I got my HU installed, the sub amp and the enclosure. For some reason I couldnt get the 37v to set the gain. It was always lower so I keept the gain down to avoid clipping for a few days till I could get my hands on a scope.

When I did I just set the gains and made sure I didnt have any flat tops.

I have been pretty happy with the sound but it still just didnt feel like 1500w. So the other day I broke out a new volt meter and I was only getting 11v out of the amp. I decided to look into the settings on the HU. Well the sub output was set to -4. I turned the gain down and turned the sub output to 8 out of 10 and my volts jumped to 28v. Turned the gain up until I hit 37v and then switched out my DMM for one with a scope and no flat tops.

Now this little 12 slammed but I couldnt hear a **** thing out of my factory speakers. Still have front and rear factory speakers, running of the HU. Checked the settings for the other speakers and wouldnt you know it for some reason they were down to -10. Turned them up and now it gets loud as hell and sounds clean.

My comps should be getting here this week and they will be going in this weekend along with a second amp to push them.

Now for some reason, eventhough its loud and clean, I want louder and cleaner. Does it ever stop //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

No. I went the "SQ" route to save my ears.
See thats whats weird with me. I love for it to sound great but I need it to pound in my chest at the same time.

to answer your question see my sig //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif I'm always upgrading and buying different shit
Yea Im already thinking about it also. I honestly would like to replace this little 1500w amp with a 3k and add another SX because I know these comps will prob outshine the substage now.

I don't think I've kept a system for more than 6 months I always upgrade. Its addicting. But I have also kind of turned to sq in my Mustang and that keeps me from upgrading the explorer all the time.

Buying things is addictive in general. The only way to really get over it is to pick up a new hobby/money pit.
Haha. Ive stopped alot of my expensive hobbies. Now I only have car audio and fishing. I stopped my photography business, hung up kite surfing, sold the boat... you name it, I atleast tried it once. Had to get out of debt some how //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

the Durango is too loud for me... that is why I am selling it, don't want to "down grade", just sell it, buy a car and do a single 12" or something... 140-145 is a good range for me. the 150+ the Durango is pushing is fun but... IDK, too much for me I guess...

i have an sq car and an spl car. i come closer to satisfied with sq but never spl. i always think, wow this 12 is loud, so what if i got another, you know i could fit another battery here, etc. people ask why is your box not painted, carpeted etc. and im like, itl be different in 3 weeks so whats the point. being poor is the only thing that keeps me from going all out

Yep thats where Im at now. I was out of car audio for a while with my last car and couldnt get loud in the F-150 and still have room. Now however I have 1 12" and 1500w and want to upgrade to 3k and add another 12 haha.

LOL it happens, "the addiction".

Glad that new box you made for your re sx 12" worked out for ya. I helped you out some on your enclosure thread.

I had a re sx 12" myself, although it was pretty loud for a single sub setup I wanted louder. I sold all my old setup and now ready to install my DD9915 and solid audio F2500D @ .5 ohm = about 3500rms. I got a lot of shit to install still but my box is getting close to being done. I need to put some more silicone inside of the box then install the 8" aero port on the side. Will probably paint box black.

Man I got a bunch of shit to do.. Run new 2/0 welding cable, install 300 Amp alternator, do big 3 in 2/0, make some kind of amp rack, make a couple new grounds on the frame, etc.

Its all worth it in the end though. I say if you got the cash upgrade your system. A lot of people get new shit in the summer time anyways so why not??

My issue is i want space and still have subs in the cargo area. So i go back and forth from 8's in fiberglass alcoves in the rear windows, to 12's in a more usual box. Now I have 10's taking up most of my cargo area. Probably going to go smaller or bigger soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Having a very small hatch is good for gas, bad for space.
