I have a 2000 jeep grand cherokee with a dc power 270xp. the alt will charge at 14.6v when the stock wire isnt hooked up to it, when i hook the stock wire up the regulator only lets the alt charge at 13.8, this is a problem in my application of spl. im losing watts, my question is; is there a way i can bypass the stock regulator? i want to run my system 0n 14.5v

My 97 Grand Cherokee only charged to around 13.6.

I have one of these critters:

Part No. 91104

THis is a very good price I might add. A few of the HO alternator manufacturers use the same thing but charge a fair bit more. Of course when you have a question or hangup they're on the phone helping you through it....

The key is having a very solid ground and a very solid connection to the 12V run #8 wire to each....if you have a weak signal it won't regulate right.

Also I found with mine if you actually do get the voltage up to 14.5 the voltage guage on the dash will burry and your "check guages" light will stick on.

Bypassing the stock one is one wire. I cut mine and left bullet plugs on it in case I ever need to reconnect.
