Can someone ID this MMATS 12" sub?

I've been planning on building a downfiring box for my 10" MTX Thunder 6000, but found an MMATS 12" sub in a ported box that I think will fit perfectly in my Jeep (I believe the box is around 1 ft^3). It was at a pawn shop, and I couldn't pull it out of the box to examine it further, it does have some scratches on the cone but not bad. The logo it doesn't look like their current font, so I was hoping someone was more familiar with the circa and perhaps where it fit in their product lineup (bottom, mid, top of the line)?

Also, would you run the 10" MTX in a downfiring sealed box (from what I understand it is better sealed than ported) or the 12" MMATS ported and firing into the back seat? This will all be going in a soft top Jeep. All sorts of music genres will be played on either speaker.

Right now I'm leaning towards the MMATS because it should be a quality sub that will fit right away, where I'll have to spend money building a box for my MTX. I think I can pretty much sell my MTX and either make $ or at least come out even on the deal and be ready to pound (once I pick up an amp).

The other thing that bugs me about the MTX is it's 8ohms so I need a more powerful amp for 1 sub. I didn't have my multimeter to check the ohm on the MMATS, but hopefully it's rated at 2 or 4 ohms.

I think it's going to be on their lower end because of the box size it's in. Base 9" x Top 5.25" x Height 16" x Width 21". I just can't imagine a huge magnet will fit in the box.

I guess I'll have to go back with a screwdriver and see if they'll let me pull it from the box to see. They're asking $69 for the sub+box, even if it's a P1 that seems fair to me (I think it was put out recently, but I may be able to haggle a little). I'm not familiar with MMATS would you say it is comparable to my MTX Thunder 6000 or better (I'm assuming its a P1)?

Oh, looking at the pic I took again, I don't see screws holding it in. Would I have to take apart the box to see the motor?

Cool. Now I was planning on a downfiring box to help keep the sound waves inside the jeep with the top down. The port is on the side of the MMAT box it's in (I would put it closer to the passenger side to help resonate off the body I guess). If I were to rework the box a little, could I put "legs" on the box to raise it a few inches and put the port facing down to get more of a downfiring effect with the sub facing forward? (I hope that makes sense).
