h/u: http://www.cardomain.com/item/JVCKDG210

2.5 volts pre-amp output

amp: power acoustik OV2-1200W

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000165CYW/ref=pd_cmp_rvi_2_a/103-1523445-5987012?n=172282

subs: 2 1240W inf. ref.

the thing is that my amp's settings only have min and max as labels, no numbers. based on the data from the h/u and amp, around where should i put put the gain?

and does anyone know how much would best buy charge for this:

install sound deadener in trunk, set gains, & mount box and amp. (i will provide them the deadener, etc. but i didnt buy anything from best buy.

Start at 25%, drive around listen to it.

If thats not enuff go up to 35%, drive around listen to it.

45%, then finally 50%.

Do not go over 50%

Reduce gain if bass loses quality.

what i dont get is...

if i set it low i can just crank the volume up to 32/36 on my h/u and have it sound the same as if i set it high and put the volume at 23/36. so what is the difference? also, are you not supposed to use the equalizer at all after you set the gains? because for some songs you cant really hear the subs unless i put 'loud' on or bass +2 or 3

why would he drive around? he cant do it parked? even you think you need to go more than 50% then you need a new amp, or you need to wire your subs to a lower impendence. usually 25% is a good place

yeah like for rock i turn it up, but i just got my xxx back, with diff coils so i might not now, i used to do like 25% for rap and like 50% for rock, i watch and listen to my sub, and put my hand on it to feel how warm it is and for the coils...

Road noise, I have wasted many hours tuning a parked car only to find it sounds completely different while I'm driving.

The voltage output of the H/U goes up as you turn up the volume, from 0 to 2.5volts in this case.

Your maximum volume that you use is entirely up to you, if your components max out at 28/36 then thats the max volume you match your sub amps sensitivity to. You can use your EQ as much as you want just have the common sense to back things off if the speakers or subs start making undesirable noises.

Why not get a 'bass knob' then?.. Seems kind of stupid to adjust your amplifier settings each time you change songs.
