can optima help dimming of lights

from what i know deep cycle batt wont help much with the dimming, they will last longer with the car off but to fix dimming u need to upgrade ur alt.

correct me if im wrong anyone

and i have no idea whatsoever about the voltage output

peace

yea i am having the same problem right now.

you need a high output alternator . no way around it. not deepcycle not cap. u need a new alt.

i drive a 92 camry and the new 150 amp alt for my car made by Nippondenso cost like $240-$250 + $10 shipping.

from what i have been told by car shops stay away from the alts on ebay.

A deep cycle battery can be drained and recharged to its full potential as many times as you want but with a non-deep cycle as soon as you drain it once it will never be able to hold a full charge again.

As for helping dimming lights. Yes it does help. Over a stock battery.

The internal resistance of optima batteries is a little lower than normal batteries. This is one of the ways they are higher quality. They can discharge electricity faster so it can handle a larger fast drain (bass). you lights are hooked up to the same battery so they will also have more electricity that in a normal battery.

The optima is no substitute for a alternator. The alt will solve dimming lights better than anything but if you are looking at getting an optima anyways it is worth it.

pst..use the word "dimmage" instead.

i dont know that many batteries that are actually TRUE deep cycle, even optima yellow top i don't consider. drain it, recharge it, drain it, recharge it, and do it a few times, the battery will be damaged. now the trues ones i know are commonly used in the industry. take abuse like no other. heavy, big, and expensive.

then again, its car audio so u shouldn't worry much. get a new alternator (or rewind) then upgrade the 3 main wires. most people have luck doing that.

just wondering,if so what kind of top, yellow or red.also can it put out a full 14 volts for your amp

No, it won't help matters. Regardless of it's internal resistance, batteries operate at a lower voltage from an alternator. This is why your lights dim, the voltage drops from 14.4 (theo) to 12.5. You could have the largest, prettiest, most expensive single battery in the world, and if it opperates at 12.5V and you put it in your car with your current situation, you'll still get "Dimmage".

you'll still get "Dimmage".
there ya go my friend. i can't remember when i started that word..must been a long time by now o_0. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

ok guys but still when i run just one amp, i still only get like 13.2.
i wanted 14 volts but i guess this is all i'm getting. a cap in this situation?

In a word. Alternator.

It all comes down to that.

No standard 12 colt automotive battery can or will produce 14 volts on it's own.

The Alternator can produce generally 14.4 volts give or take.

13.2 Volts constant is too low for a properly functioning charging system.

Either the alternator is going, the regulator needs replaced, or there is a considerable draw upon your charging system.

Since most vehicles use an alternator with an internal regulator, there is your first hint at what is happening.

A properly functioning charging system should easily produce at least 13.8 volts consistantly.

Just a little FYI also- I'd wager that a good 98% of all automobiles with upgraded stereo's are not seeing a consistant 14.4 volts.

Food for thought....

take it easy,

true true that is real true. bu it depends on his dimmagge, if it is a little then a cap or an batcap will fix it so. how much is it.
edit---->

then a cap or a batcap will band-aid it.

Charging system is allready struggling if any dimming occurs.

take it easy,
