I have a 2008 Honda Accord EX sedan 4cyl 2.4l engine. There is no HO alt made for it so I was wondering if the stock could handle a JL 1000/1v2, and 2 300/2v2's in it??? I would definitely upgrade the wiring and put a good battery in?? please help

Probably so. Those 1000/1's are inefficient though, so Big 3 and better battery are a must.

You should be fine just adding a decent battery or even replacing the stock one and doing big 3

Your alt doesn't have to be able to supply all the power, you just need to have enough battery power to back it up and keep your voltage up

You looked into Mechman alts?
i did, they do not make any yet as of now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif(( any other places that might???

also, so when do you actually need a new alternator??? and what does the ho alt really do? should I just get 1 great new battery, another battery, batcap, ect..???? and do you really only put major strain on alt and battery at very high volumes or is it at any volumes cause I would say 75% of the time I will be just listening to it at medium levels?? thanks

eddie

I would say get the Big 3 done, and get a new alternator if you are really concerned.

What you are doing is taxing on your car's electrical, but usually any audio system is. If you are getting heavy dimming in your car, I'd suggest a new alt before a new battery.

you should definitely be fine with the big 3 and extra battery, if you have the money put a big battery up front then an additional battery in the back, this will help with your voltage drop.

i've heard of cars putting out crazy power with stock alts, but running it at high levels all the time will eventually kill it, so whenever they come out with one for our vehicle, go ahead and pick one up.

it will only stress it at high volumes, but since your not doing anything like burps or 30 second runs you should be fine on your current draw

thanks guys...so if I listen to it at medium levels mostly and crank it occassionally that is better and less draw than always maxing it out??? Or does it matter what volume level it is????

that alternator only puts out 80 amps
do big 3

you may see dimming in headlights
so if my alternator only puts out 80 amps and I know I will have 1 100 amp fuse and 2 40 amp fuses how is that gonna be ok??? Isn't an 80 amp alt max 800watts???

ive got a 2008 honda fit with like 80a alt, upgraded the grounds under the hood to 1/0. couldnt get to the alt to do that wire. have a powermaster d5100r under the hood. and one aq1200d amp.

and the stock battery terminal had a 80a fuse on it and it never blew for the 3 weeks it was on there with my amp. the inline fuse holder has a 120a fuse.

i had a 95 civic hatch with a stock 80 or 90 amp alt and was running 2 kx1200.1's, a zx650.4 and just had a kinetik under hood and a kinetik 2000 in the back. I never had any problems with electrical, except a little light dimming. Worked the whole time I owned car
