Can I use a regular battery

Can I use two regular batts rather than go the Optima, Kinetic, Powermaster route? The install will be in a trunk and I will have the cabin sealed off from the trunk, and the fumes directed outside of the car. What are the disadvantages of using these "regular" batts rather than sealed or drycell ones?

First of all, all of these batteries you are loking at are wet cell batteries. Standard starting batteries are called flooded batteries. Audio batteries are usually AGM style. The reason why you would want an AGM battery is because they give much high output for a much longer time and at higher voltage as well. So, if you like low voltage, low amperage, and short run times, then by all means, use a flooded battery, many of them.

So even with the car running I would get low voltages? This is a daily vehicle, not a comp car. I'm just trying to maintain voltage, not reach 16volt status.

u can look on fourms and find batterys as low as 75.00 out there new and thats close to a stock car battery
