I just bought a new precision power ba2600.1d amp which says it requires 8 gauge wiring. My old rockford p1000-1bd had been wired with 4 gauge wires which are still currently in my car. Can my new ppba2600.1bd be hooked up to my 4 gauge wires? If this new amp is more powerful than my rockford why does it require 8 gauge wiring?

Yes, you should have no problem using 4 gauge for it, just make sure you change your fuse under the hood to the proper size so you can't draw more current than it's supposed to. Most Fosgate amps are underrated, so the short answer is it may not make any more power than your old amp. 8 gauge wiring seems fishy for an amp rated to do 1200w RMS. I'm suspect that exceeds the limitations of 8 gauge wiring in most cases.

Yes you can use 4 gauge the 8 gauge is just a minimum wire size.

Be sure to give us a review on this amp once installed please!
