can i get honest opinions qaa4250

im seriously considering this amp along with the qaa1000 for the subs.... i need real opinions of this not just ya buy it..... i currently run a x1001 and a x604 xtant... looking for smaller and just more power but need the sq to be equal or better to warrant a switch... i am also cinsidering the xenon line at 200x4 should be plenty of power for what i want....

one thing that surely bothers me about the qaa series is not one to repair them, rockford said nope maxxsonics said nope and ive checked with a few others even stephen mantz (zed) said some of the parts are proprietary to the qaa and would be super hard to come by.... i would hate to glass these in the trunk then one goes and cant be fixed....

looking primarily for the sq of these i know what kind of power they do but i am unable to hear one nor find one....locally. thanks in advance...

also would these be a step up from the x series?? thanks again

yes i am talking aout that amp... not why i would break it but if it does break.... not saying it will but with electronics always a chance, lol..... and as i stated what i run now (x series xtant) i am looking to knw how much of a step up in sq these will be if any or just a step up in power.... i really want the power of the qaa's, but 1) question the repair issues and 2) have not had any opportunity to hear one so i have no idea on the sq of these amps... i have heard mixed feelings on this point and i dont want to hear "ya buy it its the bomb" etc.. like some other forums said.... i mean wtf is that??? anyway any help would be great...

not sure what merit you will take this at but i recently talked to a friend who did an a/b comparison with the mb quart qaa4250 and the diamond d7 and he said sq wise the diamond d7 killed the mb quart. he said the stage was much wider. the speakers were much fuller and detailed. of course the mb got louder but he said no doubt the diamond amp was the better the amp.

i know its not much but its something.

I demo'ed that amp and found it to be nothing special in the SQ department. It has a ton of power, yes, but all things being equal...same speakers, same HU, same reference tracks, it just didn't do it for me at all. In fact, my C2K at 30% of the power sounded way better. Just my $.02.

To me it lacked seperation and transparency. Again, I am comparing the QAA4250 directly to a Zapco 3.0x....as in I just swaped one for the other. I listen to the same songs over and over so I know them well. After the switch and some minor adjustments on the amp, I could definately say that the amp did not have the same sonic capibilites to reproduce the clarity and detail in those songs. I have yet to hear an amp produce as much contol and high frequency extension as the Zapco ***dives in anticipation of flames***

The sound was loud and clear - as it should with 250w per channel - but does all that power really mater when it sounds only average at best??? In speaking to my dealer who runs everything else from MB Quart, he said basically the same thing - that the Q series just did not do it for him and consequently he never carried them in his shop. When I asked him why, he said because they sounded like a heaping pile of excrement!! Honestly dude, the only way you will know for sure is to A/B the Q against the Xtant. If you are looking for a high powered 4 channel maybe look at the Kicker SX 900.4, Arc 4200 SE, Alpine MRV-f545, or the new Eclipse XA4000 which is not out yet.

I would hope that the QAA would be nicer than the Alpine and Eclipse amps. The Arc SE is about as nice an amp as you'll find, but that will be cost multiple times what the MBQ would. It's hard to argue with over 1k watts for $400, but I haven't heard the QAAs.

thats why i wanted the qaa's.. one thing that does bother me though is there is no one who will repair these... after making calls all day to everyone i could think of i got a big fat no from everyone... neither rockford or maxxsonics is touching them from what they said... and all the rockford repair places i called said they have heard about them and will not touch them... just dont know why.... this may **** in case one goes you have 400$ paperweights... i just really want the big power so bad.... **** this is driving me nuts... just cant decide before they are gone forever....
