Can I drive 4 hours without an alternator?

With the extra battery, you will be fine. dont touch the music though, that will drain your battery in minutes. The cars ignition does't use much so if you keep all electronics off including headlights you will make it but i dont reccomend it. Only in an emergency would i do it.

what in a car uses battery when all electronics are off? and is there a way for me to monitor what level the batterys are at?

lol....really? how about all of it. power steering, brakes, bcm, fuel system, everything.unless its carborated. plus its call an internal cumbustion engine. it needs spark plugs to ignite the fuel. the plugs eun off of a distributor or cell and thts run by the alt.

you my friend have offically had you working on a car privlages revoked.....jk. but you will not get far dude. 4 hrs would be devine intervention.

thers alot that will use your battery power. fenix listed most of it. also, if youve ever started your car up with a voltage meter hooked up, you'll see that the starting will take quite a bit from the batts. i would recommend putting your stock alt back in. not sure how you are with tools, but i can swap my alternators out in about 5 minutes. just a couple bolts and a plug

or how about you use the stock battery till it is dead, then hook up the secondary battery until that is dead.

then you are ****ed, stranded in the middle of nowhere, and hopefully dont come back to this sight and spread your retardation.

**** yeah i didnt think of that stuff. i only thought of the spark plugs. well shit man. is there anything i can do to make it there? like put another battery in the back?

i have to pull ALOT of stuff to change the alt. i did the initial swap and it took forever. i have to take out the steering pump and take of the alt braket from the engine block and that take for ever because you can only turn the bolts a 1/4 of a turn everytime
