Actually is is an electrical power supply that will run at a dead 24v and will only go down from there. with the amp playing, I'm sure it would drop a little. Being that I only need 600w though, even 50A is more than enough.
well the 12v supply that I have can support over 600w but the amp draws too much from the supply for a sustainable 12+v so when it drops, the amp shuts off. The only other solution I have thought of besides step-downs are amps that can run on 12v or less. Idk which ones can though.
If you want to run this from a power supply, why not get a regulated 13.8V or 14.4V power supply that can supply enough amps? They aren't cheap, but they are extremely handy for testing amps or running an amp in a home theater/pro audio setup.
lol, i used to do the battery thing, too. last summer, i think, i just built my own bench power supply. getting ready to build a bigger one, too, capable of 200a short shots.
oh, that makes me think- you may be able to modify the regulator on that 24v one, down to 16v, which could net even more current without risking voltage creep
Yep, I used to actually run a 40A power supply as a "trickle charger" for a deep cycle battery in my home. Very dangerous and I wouldn't do that these days. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Here's a guy who modified a HP server PSU to put out 100A.....can be found for pretty cheap or free if you have a computer recycling place nearby.
