can a type r 12 handle 1000watts daily?

hay how would you guys rate your type r up against an L5 i have 2 L5 12's and i was thinking of getting some type R's will the R hit as hard as the L5 i want to gain some SQ but i dont want to loose any spl

That all depends on the enclosure and tuning. Personally I'd go with the Alpines over the Kickers anyday, but thats just me. I've seen several pairs of Type R's get really loud and sound great, L5's and L7's not so much.

There's no way to say this without being an ***... so I'm just gonna throw it out there.

Generally, if you have to ask this question, chances are you don't know enough to have everything setup in a manner in which the sub will receive 1000W of clean and unclipped power. And even then, that's pushing it. More or less, the people that ask this question are the sole reason Alpine underrates them so much... to protect themselves from getting thousands of fried subs back in the mail from people like you.

ive got two type r's on an aq1200d and they are beast mode.

What the shit does this have to do with putting 1000w on 1 Type R 12?

buddy of mine ran a 12" type R on a JBL BP1200.1 and it did fine. Another friend fried his on about 600 watts so it depends.

ive seen the type-r's handle 1000 rms, 1100rms, 500rms, 600rms and such and get loud on all, but ive also seen an r blow at 750rms (unclipped), it was a d4 on a zx750.1 and blew in about 6 days or so.. so from what ive seen some can, some cant but once you smell somethin funny take the power off of it -_-

I built a box for a kid with 2 r 12's and this amp. Subs lasted and are still going good, but the amp blew after a few months.

his amp is still running good, it wasnt blow..i think it was a bad ground but i was in his car last night..the subs work just fine on it...i had a lanzar vibe 1800d on one r 12..just run it with clean power n i see no problem
