cactus 7k daily OP.

^^^^^^^ yeah but it doesnt sound as good as the d9 does
Like I said... I will only get a D9 if the price goes back to $750 for competitor.. Besides there isn't an audible gain in switching out for d9's anyhow.. So thats pointless.

I'm looking for these amps for a competitor.
He wants to trade me some Stetsom amps for IA 40.1's

I've been competing with Stetsom amps for more than a year now without any problems!
What does Stetsom have for a 6 or 7K amp at 1ohm?

I have 2 7k2d's here. They are actually the ones with the extra 7 capacitors and called a 10k2d. The guy hasn't paid the bill, it's been like 2 months now since I invoiced him.... I really wish he'd pay the bill so i don't have to sell his amps.... I could drop a hot 350 in my Caprice for the money I can sell those 2 amps for.... it's so tempting too, cuz I love speed, my truck just isn't fast enough for me.... LOL...

If you are not going to compete then why would you get a "TEAM" price from RD? Not sure I am understanding how that works.... You don't compete, you pay full price, that's how most of that works. And stop saying a D9 sounds better than a 40.1... I doubt it, probably so similar there's no difference.

If you want to blow hard at 30 hz you need to just sit on your 40.1's and beef that electrical, it would be badass. You already have the amps, just do it.

I ran my zenon 7k @ .5 daily for a long time. And the previous owner did the same. Granted I had stout electrical, but the amp was never damaged.

As long as you're not a dumbass and dropping major voltage... I would say go for it.

EDIT: Amp was also used with another in competition.

I do compete with what little 3 or 4 shows that happen in my area. So I guess I cant say I "dont" compete. I just dont care about what I put up on a meter. I want loud to the ear and not loud on a mic. I really dont want to run 4 40.1's.. That would kill my truck at a stop light. Let alone I would be shredding belts from the alternators I would need. 5.0's are no fun to work on either.

I've also thought the same thing about d9's vs. 40.1's.. They are identical and differences are minimal I would assume. I dont get where people say they are better:confused: I'm also concerned about those amps that do gobs of power with tiny heat sinks. They have to over-heat in less than a couple minutes of playing music full tilt.

Also I would sell those amps and get a 383 to drop in there.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

voltage drops don't kill those amps, they have low voltage protection....

The mosfets break loose from the board. The drive circuitry is unstable with so many outputs and if oscillation frequency drops too low BANG! there it goes. A voltage drop MIGHT contribute to failure because of the oscillation frequency, but it's more likely to be physically damaged by vibration than ANY thing else. You just got lucky dude, so did your friend. Just a matter of time.... "poof!" it's coming.

You could do it, I think the 5.0 might have to go though... LOL no for real it would work. Just need 4 x 200 amp alts and about 16 D3100 batteries.

I have never seen the inside of a D9, so I don't know if it's like the 40.1 board or not, I doubt it, RD is making it sound like a drastic change from the old Zenon design (5750.1 RD amp). But still going as far as to say it actually "SOUNDS BETTER" is going out on a limb big time, dude, it's an amp with transistors and capacitors, they all sound the same. Someone post a pic of the inside of a D9.

I am not going with a 383 because I am gonna spin it up to about 7500 rpm... Gonna build a sleeper motor for it, with BBQ pit mufflers so you can't hear it hit so hard, like with flows like I have on my Truck, everyone knows it's got something cause the exhaust... only dillema I have is how to keep it under the hood.... a harwood hood would give it away, but I need a hi-rise for 7500 rpm and 350-400hp on pump gas.

I've got a new Ford Racing 5.0 dropped in mine, 9.0:1 compression and GT-40 heads and still runs on pump gas.. So I'm not taking that out. Naturally asperated at 396rwhp last year when it was dyno'ed. Now with the weight in it, I doubt its close to that. But it still gets with it. I dont want 16 batteries. I have 700pounds worth of batteries already.

Also as for pics, RD has them on the site I think.

And for hoods, do you like composite hoods?

Also the 383 would be able to do that

Sorry forgot to insert quote:

what do people have against stetsom?

Can you explain a little more please....

I don't know what they really meant, but they maybe concerned about overheating because in comps, even burping at 20V @ .25 ohm isn't as harsh as riding around town for an hour banging at full tilt on 14V setup. Amp will get super hot doing that, add some extra voltage or extra low impedances (like .25-.5) and you got a mess if you can keep your amp cool... gonna shutdown or explode one or the other.

maybe that's what they meant I don't know, but like I said, not sure if the Stetsoms or SD amps would overheat in a daily, as long you stayed within rated specs and voltage. That's what Stetsom swears by anyway, like I said I will find out soon for myself as I get my setup together in my car where I can throw an amp in there and worry more about the amp burning up than the subs, gonna throw 2 18" IA DP's in there, they will take a serious wooping before giving out.

To whoever posted the inside of the D9 pic:

Wow, that appears real similar to a 40.1... can you turn off the flash, put the amp in better light, and then take a pic of the inside, I could tell you more. And look at the voltage rating on those caps in the middle of the amp board too tell me what it is.
