What kind of amp do I need?

Hey guys,

So I am new to car audio in general...So I need to know what kind of amplifier to get for my 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee...

I just bought 2 10" Kicker Comp Subwoofers -

Im pretty sure each of those subs can handle 300watts and 150 RMS? I really dont know what RMS is or anything.

and I need to know what kind of amp to get for those subs, because I heard if it is too many watts it will blow them and ya...I just need some help. I want to try to keep my budget around $100-150 for an amp. But I really just need to know what kind I need to get, I dont care about brand or anything, but what kind of watts and RMS it needs to have?

You need my amp for $120. Does 350 watts rms @ 4 ohms.

and isnt 350 watt RMS too much? because each sub can only handle 150 RMS so that would be 300 RMS? I dont want to blow my subs...

If you have two subs, and apply 300W to the two, each will get 150W assuming they both have the same impedances.

If u set your gains right you could probably put up to 400 rms total or a lil more. But 350 won't blow ur subs. Use da search button on how to set gains.

Also if I was to get the amp at the link above...It has different speaker inputs than the old amp that used to be in the jeep...Someone had put an alpine amp in but there was no subs ever hooked up to it...

This is what the old amp looks like -

and the current wiring in the car is setup like that, so what would I do if I was to wire this new kicker amp in or any other amp because they both have completely different hookups...

the subs are single four ohm coils. Kicker ZX300.1 will be a perfect match. you can get one from hifisoundconnection.com for 109.99. You also need a 8 ga wiring kit.

Nah. The subs u said u ordered were d4 ohms. So u need an amp that does between 300-400 @ 1 ohm or 4 ohms.

I really need to know, because they have completely different hookups and if anyone has a jeep they would know its not easy to do all this wiring stuff because you can just peel up the carpet easy...
