Bye-bye hifonics?

I was bumpin to Get Back by ludacris, and then I noticed my subs looked like they were being pressed out (not a center focal point), but they were still producing sound. So I turned it off, got in my trunk, un-hooked my subs, and checked the coil impedaence to make sure they were ok, and they are fine. Then I hooked up the DMM to my amp to see what the output votage was on a 40hz tone, and its putting out 14.** volts DC with some music. The DMM auto switches between AC and DC, and it was enough DC to switch it to DC mode. I checked my RCA's and they have a nice clean ac signal.

Any suggestions, or is it time to get a new a amp?

I built a box for a customer and installed his system, 2 PBX XS 12's off of a hifonics BX1500D @ 1 ohm and within 30 min. two of the output transistors literally blew up....

Yes, well after bumpin for a nice bit of time, actual resistence was .7 ohms or so. Its strange that the amp gave up now, It hasnt given up all the other times I cranked it. It just decided today was the day.

So how to fix it? How much would that set me back?

My amp isnt the BX1500D model. That model is the one most commonly know to frie. But I guess the BX1000d will blow too, especially with resistense values droping as the coils get warm.

Just its time to die. They are pretty cheap, id maybe go with a viper now?

And whoever suggested te viper, no. Now its time for an RE 12.1. Although I have to wait, because I was planning to get one in about a month, not a month early.

I'm not exactly sure where the output transistors are on the BX1000D, but if you can find them I can tell ya how to test em'.

http://www.digi-key.com for the parts, if not there's several others but they have quite the stock.
