Maybe the big3 should worry about giving there shareholders a dividend to offset the money they lost, instead of donating, but very well written and you made some valid points, still try and convince the general public to buy a GM under bankruptcy would be a tough sale

IF GM were to file bankruptcy it would have to be done uber carefully. GM is basically not going to pay, in full, suppliers, dealers, and of course the UAW. The suppliers will be the tricky part. Why? making automotive parts is not easy, thus most suppliers not only supply GM, but also supply Ford, Chrysler, Toyota,etc, etc...and money is not plentifull thus suppliers could be put out of business.

As far as public opinion, on GM bankruptcy, if GM comes out stronger, leaner, and better people will like the idea, imho.

very interesting point. i guess it has to go both ways. employees need to realize they have it good.

I don't blame the employees. I blame the UAW. I have worked with some great UAW line workers and met a couple greedy UAW officers trying to make a name for themselves.

wow this thread got long. lol. the shape of the economy plus obama being president, has scared most of the production companies into cutting way back on what they drill and even what wells they complete.

i do believe there is over 50 -100 years of crude oil still left on this planet to explore and drill. say like off the coast of florida. BUT certain people dont want them to drill out there (well open up to drilling more) because it ruins the coastal view. imo thats a pile of horse shit lol. these rigs are far from 50 miles off shore. i cant see that far off shore. lol.

i am not sure if most people understand how many jobs the oilfield creates. and big and strong the communities grow. how it helps the state they drill in (taxes) and how it boosts the economy all the way around. where else can a kid right out of high schoool , with no degree make over 60k in the first year? and thats just here in lil ol farmington,nm. we are a small "oilfield"

btw i hate that we import oil. i know its cheaper but, if we got up to par on refining it, we could produce just as much and cut down the costs, while creating thousands of jobs. but i do understand that we can take their oil now and use ours. meh.

as far as GM it pisses me off that they cut the blue collar workers while the high end of management, just raked it in. i do not like it when large companies dont do whats best for the company. just whats best for certain individuals. i think no bailout money should be givin until they get the priorities in the right place. cut managements salaries and commercials haha.

Why are we going to run out of oil? Oil is a fossil fuel created from the remains of living organisms, right. Was there a time when "stuff" stopped dying?

Import oil...why not lets use the saudi's oil first and ours last...assuming it is disappearing.

With the advance in electric motor technology I am betting my kid will drive an all electric vehicle and wonder why I still have an oil burnin POS. Secondly, her car will probably have 100K watt amplifiers that make that power at 300 volts
