Bye Bye GM....Thanx Liberals....

I don't know about all that. I'd like to conserve the environment because this is where I live. I'll do it in the most conservative way I possibly can. I'll use reusable cups, I'll have a high fuel mileage car, etc.

Seems like I'm more "conservative" than "liberal".

I'll chime in.

IF GM files bankruptcy it wil be a great tool to help the company survive. However, no one should be afraid to buy a GM product as they WILL NOT include warranties in the bankruptcy filing. Why? A fairly new car without a warranty is worthless and believe it or not some of the new GM product is holding it's own vs. the Jap stuff.

I have been in the auto industry for...too many years and I see two big problems with GM. One the UAW doesn't seem all that willing to give GM a break and instead of giving in they MAY go go down in a blaze. Secondly, Wagoner and Lutz need to go Wagoner is the capt. that has steered the ship and Lutz was the guy who basically decided which cars would be built and when. FYI - Lutz was the guy who decided to build the solstice/sky vs. Camaro and VOLT. Let me clarify my MAY comment on the UAW. I forget the exact number but I remember reading that the UAW put out 300ish million to Democrat campains last year...they probably have a few friends in high places to keep them alive.

I have read a lot of comments about how american cars are POS. Well can't deny that WE sure have made some duds, but they are so much better now than ever. Seriously, Fusion hybrid is bigger and gets better mileage than the Accord hybrid...which was a complete failure. I would also disagree about the current state of Toyota quality. Toyota is having more and more problems per vehicle than ever before. Nissan isn't doing much better and just broke their contract to have Dodge build their new truck.

I say give the domestics a break and a second look. I know Japs are building cars here but the profits still go back to Japan, ultimately. The Big 3 stll gave more money to american charities than all of the import makers.

Rant over...

I don't get how GM can sell so many vehicles world-wide and still have problems personally. I mean their market isn't just America, its the whole world. So how'd they screw that up? I blame the hummer h2!!! j/k. I think some Admins were reaching in the "cookie jar" while no one was looking a little too often and now their screwed.
Legacy cost is part of the problem. Legacy cost? The UAW was strong enough to get GM to sign agreements that would pay outlandish pensions and healthcare cost. Why would they do such a stupid thing? Well everytime GM said no the UAW would strike until GM said yes. IMO - the UAW forgot that GM was in the business to make money..

Maybe the big3 should worry about giving there shareholders a dividend to offset the money they lost, instead of donating, but very well written and you made some valid points, still try and convince the general public to buy a GM under bankruptcy would be a tough sale

wow this thread got long. lol. the shape of the economy plus obama being president, has scared most of the production companies into cutting way back on what they drill and even what wells they complete.

i do believe there is over 50 -100 years of crude oil still left on this planet to explore and drill. say like off the coast of florida. BUT certain people dont want them to drill out there (well open up to drilling more) because it ruins the coastal view. imo thats a pile of horse shit lol. these rigs are far from 50 miles off shore. i cant see that far off shore. lol.

i am not sure if most people understand how many jobs the oilfield creates. and big and strong the communities grow. how it helps the state they drill in (taxes) and how it boosts the economy all the way around. where else can a kid right out of high schoool , with no degree make over 60k in the first year? and thats just here in lil ol farmington,nm. we are a small "oilfield"

btw i hate that we import oil. i know its cheaper but, if we got up to par on refining it, we could produce just as much and cut down the costs, while creating thousands of jobs. but i do understand that we can take their oil now and use ours. meh.

btw new mexico can support its self as well. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif everything you guys have, we have as well. less people though. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif as far as LA and new orleans. that place is horrible. i used to live 80 miles south of NO in a tiny lill place called venice. it may not even be there anymore. i know it was below sea level before katrina. and so was boothville and port sulphur. hated it there. very dirty. NO takes the cake on dirtiest places ive ever ben though LOL.

as far as GM it pisses me off that they cut the blue collar workers while the high end of management, just raked it in. i do not like it when large companies dont do whats best for the company. just whats best for certain individuals. i think no bailout money should be givin until they get the priorities in the right place. cut managements salaries and commercials haha.

No, they have it too good, and the people who didnt do shit to prepare for retirement beacasue they were banking on the extravagant over payment the UAW forced the companies to give them should get screwed.

I still stand by my argument that no assembly line worker is worth $20 + /hr
