buying a new alternator

ok i got my alpine workin (many threads on that issue) but next thing i know when im ridin down the road the whole pully system of the alternator just goes crazy and i need a new one

do you think if i got a 105 alt that will be enough for say a directed 1500? will i have dimming issues? how much am i looking to pay? i already called pep boys and they quoted me 80 bucks but also said something about 30 discount if i bring in the old alt (which i have in hand) hopefully after i get this bastard in i can start on the amp + sub setup //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

there shits only 10 bucks cheaper for factory alt and then gotta pay shipping, i dont want to spend alot on some high performance alternator, just looking to know if i got a BRAND NEW 105 alt would that be sufficent for around 1000-1500 watt rms

Different amplifiers create differing current draws even making the same power.

How much current does your 100~1500 watts require? That will be a good start in deciding how much alternator you need. Don't forget to take into account the current needs of the car itself before any accessories are added. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Edit:

Also, look what word is IN their name... REMAN...hahahahah.
But you have no qualms about suggesting a refurbished amplifier to someone?!?

NO! a 105 will not power your system. My stock alt in my 93 cierra was a 105. It broke down, and my car was broken into. You need something more. I had a planet audio p1250d. I'd avise you to get something bigger and something of better quality. Like they say, you get what you pay for.

dont have your system cranked at idle and I think you would be good...going down the roading it should keep your electrical system running good also take in consideration another battery....because im sure your current is just a starter battery and audio equipment kills those batteries because there not able to recharge as fast as deep cycle batteries are able to......I have a 200a amp alt and im just running 300 watts as of right now from my front....Im doing a single XXX 12" soon.....

Deep cycle batteries are designed to take being deeply discharged with no issues better than a starting battery. But audio equipment doesn't "kill" starting batteries any more quickly than they do deep cycle if your charging system is up to snuff. My 'starting' battery has been in my car for over three years now without problems......

I seemed to recall having seen you participate in a discussion about refurbed Orions - I'm too lazy to search for it at the moment - and if I have made a mistake then I happily retract my previous statement. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

bad choice of words on my part....I dont have any expierence with a starter battery running my whole system which isnt much at the moment and it "killing" the battery......so I should shut the f* up huh? hah im sure it doesnt kill them but when you go into the technical differences deep cycle batteries are meant for accessories....car audio being one of em
