buy one get one free boston G5's

I hate to admit it, but Crutchfield can sometimes be a decent deal. I bought my h/u from cfield simply because their price was only 10% higher than ebay prices, it came with some free minor crap, and CS is obviously superior to a no-name ebay seller. But yes many times they are a total rip off too.

The average shop workers IQ seems to be quite low from my experience with shops here locally... I wouldn't believe it until after I bought them, went home, got online and checked the credit/bank statement, printed it off, called the company, and confirmed it with someone on the phone lol...

Im positive, i asked him like 3 times... i was a lil shocked too
Sounds too good to be true. I smell a "bait and switch". I'll bet that after you show up with cash in hand they say they are used, out of stock, only on the passive radiator or only with thier proffesional installation/purchace of amp, etc.

+1 for Crutchfield. They are worth paying a few extra bucks for, cheap insurance and authorized dealer.

I ordered a pair of the G5 10's from Crutchfield Sunday evening figuring I'd upgrade the G1 10's that I had installed with the rest of my system recently. Unfortunately, I didn't bother to measure the depth I have to work with - the G5's arrived today and are about 1 inch too deep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif. The G1's are mounted in a box built into the cargo floor of my 2008 Toyota Highlander (where the 3rd row seats would normally fold into for storage), so there's not much I can do to make the G5's fit as keeping the cargo area usable to carry "stuff" is a higher priority. I may take another look at it and see if I can build the cargo floor up a bit so they'll fit, but I suspect these will end up going back.

Looking at the G5's next to the G1's, it's a night and day difference. The G5's are a lot beefier and weigh a LOT more than the G1's.

Fortunately, this goof up shouldn't cost me anything as Crutchfield will pay the return shipping. Their normal prices are definitely on the high side, but their customer service is top notch. I've given them a reasonable amount of business over the last 20+ years and have never been disappointed in any way. BTW, I had a question regarding going with single or double voice coils and they had someone available for an online chat session at 11PM on a Sunday night. That's part of the reason why their prices are often a bit on the high side, but it also shows how their customer service is top notch.

Recommendations of subs that would be upgrades (SQ wise, don't really care about how loud they'll get) to my G1's AND about 1 inch less deep than the G5's would be appreciated.
