Button and display problem with Sony HU

I was installing a HU in my friends car and everything was wired correctly. All the speakers worked and the sub worked. It accepted and ejected cds and played them, but there was no display lit up and none of the buttons worked.

I'm stuck. Anybody know what's wrong?

Take it out and reinstall it.

Is it new? If so, Id go ahead and exchange it.

Either the accessory power wire (red) is not connected correctly, or your vehicle has a blown radio fuse.

Sorry, ignore my last post. I didn't read the original post completely. Yes, it sounds like a defective head unit.

Yeah, it's new. Funny thing is my friends girl bought it for his birthday from her dad, who works at sony. My friend said she only had the HU. No box, no instructions, not even a harness.

I guess I could reinstall everything again. I was thinking it was defective because these things happen. I asked a few other people and they thought it was defective, too. I don't see anything wrong with the wiring. It only takes about 15 minutes to install a HU in a non-luxury car.
