Building Subwoofer from scratch

As many of you know i tried a business venture and it didnt turn out so well so instead of doing premade subs, im sourcing parts and building my own. ive made a couple prototypes but nothing the worked great my question for you guys is how do you guys go about attaching the first spider to the voice coil? what is the best method to ensure that spider goes on straight and that there will be no mechanical noise

The spiders I use most often have a line on them where the spider more or less wants to set. It's pretty easy to line it up on that. I'd think if you're mass producing you'd probably want to build up some sort of jig or template for faster alignment.

Make a jig. That's the only way to ensure it goes in the same spot every time. I use a 4-5" cardboard cylinder that I cut down to the exact height I want. Place the coil inside and then place the spider on.
