Building PA speakers

Its not home audio, but where else would it fit?

I'm thinking of building a few PA speakers. I have the components, just need to build the cabs.

Something similar to this:

1) What material would work best for the build? I know 3/4 MDF would be good, but what about protability? Anything lighter, inexpensive, and durable?

2) Accessories: The handles on the sides, the corner caps for protection. Where would I find these things? The pole mount would be nice, but not necessary.

3) What material would be good to cover the cabinet with? Store bought are a hard, black, plastic coating. If nothing similar, a carpet finish wouldn't be too bad.
