whats up guys i need a little help i have a 2000 solara convertable and im looking into building up a system, i want very high and CLEAR vocals and a decent amount of bass.im interested in looking into all suggestions im trying to stay in the 2g range also does my car being a convertable will i need to dynamat it to increase clarity. ty

Definitly check out Polk Audio Sr speakers and Sub. Loud as heck, very very clean and even sounding speakers. I'm running Alpine amps with Pioneer 980 HU. You will need to dynamat the doors.

from my basic knowledge i would need

4 door speakers

2 amps (1 running int other running sub)

1/2 subs

touch screen double din head unit

2 tweeters

i was thinking of dynamating the doors and trunk

am i missing anything im looking to spend 2000-2500

ive seen a few headunits under 700 i thought i might buy but i really dont know what makes a system sound really clean and loud and guidance would be appreciated

components are speakers yes but unlike coaxials the midrange and the tweeter are separate and they come with a separate passive crossover. They are a must for clarity and overall sound quality. Amp these and you will never need rear speakers.

you have plenty of money to spend so my honest opinion is this.

1.) High end component system

2.) Nice 2 channel amp

3) A high end sound quality sub in a sealed box

4) A mono amplifier to push your sub

6.) A decent head unit that has all of the options you want.

5) Spend a fair amount of money on good wiring and deadening

Use the search button to find all of these items dont buy a single thing untill you get lots of opinions. This forum has a plethra of people that will help you with your decision but remember it all comes down to what you want. Try to hear as many products as possible. Take your time on the install and you should be happy

Good luck!

so a component system only have 2 speakers.so what would i do with my back doors
It's a Solara- does it even HAVE back doors?

No, a components system is typically 4 speakers- 2 for each side, with a crossover, which divided highs to the tweeters and midrange notes to the midrange speakets. Normallt, the tweeters are about 1" and th emidtranges are 4-6." They come in a matched set, and you get all 4 speakers (aldo caller drivers) and the crossovers.

ok ty i got it now are there any brand names i should look for?solaras dont have doors actually but walls around the back seat they have stock 6 1/2s
The best thing for you to do it to go into each of the following subforums- subwoofers, speakers, and amplifiers- and read a few of the questions and recommendations in the first few pages. Think up some more direct questions, and ask them in those subforums. Also, go listen to speakers at a local shop but DON'T BUY ANYTHING ON THE FIRST DAY! Go to a few places, even if they are places like best buy or circuit city. Listen to different things and get a feel for what you like. Come back, ask us questions, and THEN go forth and buy.

Regarding headunits, just go play with them in a place like circuit city or best buy. After you know what other equipment you want and what features you can use, you will be better equipped to pick the right headunit.
