Building mid and high range

So my distorted stock speakers from 1995 are getting really old.. I just bought the Massive VK6 6.5 and 3/4" kit from 12Vtoys (on sale for $65 from $120) I know its not high end but it will crush the stock in SQ. I need to keep filling out the mid range, I lost my 2 6X9s in the rear deck from the SA12s tearing the surrounds on them. (The 6x9s sat directly above the subs, and the subs face up) So I will be putting new ones in. But they will be in their own boxes mounted on the rear deck facing the front. They will be powered by the HU for now, and I need suggestions, I am looking at the IA I69 Coaxial, or maybe some SD Neopro 6.5" or 8" on the rear deck.. any ideas?

Just amp them. You will need to eventually anyway. If your running HU power anything will distort
I do plan to, but I cant amp the stock ones, so for now better speakers is the best option to get started. I'm lucky to have $30 bucks after each paycheck, so its going to be a slow process

You can amp the stocks. Just get something you can turn down for now and use it all when you can
The "massive" 20W rms from the HU pushes the 2 53/4" speakers to the breaking point.. Besides that the HU only has mono RCA out for the sub stage, I need to rebuild everything.. but one step at a time. Just curious what would you have in mind for a lower cost 4 channel amp? Had my eye on the SAX 100.4 or the DC 175.4.. but moneys tight, and I have expensive taste lol

You think its pushing them but its not. Its just distorting them. I ran a KTP-445 to my stocks for a while. They sounded SO much better.

Thats up to your budget. Those are overkill for most standerd setups

Just saw the prototype of the 125.4 from SD here it is on top of the 100.4 kinda nuts..

Proly going to wait for this to come out, in the mean time buying a better headunit, car, and mids/highs, better subs... sigh...

Thanks for the info man.. Do you have "any" suggestions for mid range fill from the back?

Generally you want your highs/midrange up front, then mid-bass and sub-bass in the rear. So your speakers you just bought up front should be Coaxial (with the tweeter on the speaker) which covers highs and mids. Something in the rear fill would be a Mid-Bass woofer (iirc)

You want only the 80hz and down coming from the rear cause thats going to be omni directional
:\ hmm still feel bad for the people in the back seats.. But they do get free massages... Ill find something for mid bass but nothing coaxial.. NeoPros dont sound like a bad idea

You want your mid bass in front of you. If the fronts are powered right the people in the back will hear them just fine
Powered right and not crap :| Two key things.. Thanks a lot for the information man, really helps. BTW the stock tweet placement on my 95 LeSabre puts them at knee level in the arm rest of the door.. Everywhere else I see them in the door post.. How much will I loose with them in the stock position?

To make the rear fill not get damaged you'll need to build a box for them inside the trunk making them their own space.

Then to actually hear an audible difference/use them properly you'll need to amp them.

They will sit on top of the rear deck in their own box.. Should be okay.. well if I can get money for them haha
