Building a sub, need some help.

I've got a blown xfl1544 that I'm wanting to build into a 12d1. I got the basket off and found a guy that will give me an old style DD basket (12 spoke claw?) in trade for my xfl 15 basket. First thing, will the DD basket work with the xfl 15 motor? Will I need a spacer? Is there a better basket that I should use instead? I was planning on getting a custom drop in from splaudio, is it safe to assume he'd be able to make one for any motor/basket combo? I'm kinda new to building subs, so in not really familiar with what fits what.

Im sure he could yes. Are the bolt patterns the same onthe frames

Yeah the bolt pattern is the same, so I know it will bolt up physically. I'm just unsure of whether I'd need a spacer or whatever else. From what I could find the old style dd is the same basket as the AQ. I'm trying to keep from having to send everything to him, but I don't want to swap baskets and end up with something that turns into a pita in the long run.
