building a PC

lol, what one is better? (im so confused.......)
but my GF's dad does this stuff for a living so he can always help me:)
PCI-Express 16x is the latest video card drivers (older computers generally use AGP, some new ones do too but not much), so they would be ur best bet to be able to upgrade later on too. As for SATA or IDE hard drives it doesnt really matter, its kinda personal preference, most motherboards have support for both, so if u buy a SATA or IDE hard drive they can both be connected on the motherboard. SATA cables are just really small compared the the IDE cables.

Building a machine is the way to go. I built my current machine and I couldn't be happier with it. You may not save any money, but you can tailor the machine for exactly what you want. For gaming, buy the most current motherboard you can afford. Avoid AGP as it has gone as far as it's going to go with respect to gaming. Find one that supports the latest cards.

Also, spend the money for a good case. It takes alot of the frustration out of putting everything together.
