Building a new computer....

I put together a few systems in the last few weeks w/ the HD 2900 Pro and they all perform fine.
Is he using the Catalyst 7.10 drivers ?
Well it all depends on the system and how hard it's being pushed etc...For example my friend is running a 24" LCD with 1920x1200 res. which is pretty demanding, and with the driver issues its crippling the card. I don't remember which he Is using now but I know he has been trying everyone he can get his hands on.

I built a gaming PC a few months ago and its been awsome but now I have an issue

of it shutting down, like someone pulled the plug - usually happens when gaming...

But sometimes just random

any ideas? I was thinking either a bad power supply(OCZ) or MOBO(gigabyite)

I could play any game at max settings with SLI 7600's...
New processor= new HDD.
At what resolution because unless that is at low res I have a hard time believing that have you tried Bioshock or the crysis demo? because I guarantee they will not play smoothly with 7600 SLI. And since when does new cpu= new hd? Ever hear of a reformat and most of the time that's not even necessary.

Make a new thread this one is already moving too fast.

Actually OCZ units have been using forton source and are very solid power supplies for the money. Also OCZ bought out PC Power and cooling.
That's good, sounds like OCZ got fed up with Topower messing up their name. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Fortron makes some good units, so then the newer OCZs might be better than previous performers. They are expensive, though. I think the biggest factor (for me anyways) would be the single 12V rail, which can be hard to find among really budget-minded PSUs. Although why buy an OCZ when it's just a rebadged Fortron (aka FSP) that you can buy direct? Cut out that middle-man. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Sparkle is another brand I'd recommend based on their reputation for solid performance and reliability at a budget price.

Heck, even Rosewill made a cheap 500W unit that managed great reviews when stringently tested. I put that one in a friend's computer for $50 and it's worked wonderfully in a basic single-core system.

Oh, and TankGuys.com is a good place to buy stuff, too. Especially if you're OCing, they used to list the actual batch numbers of the processors, so you could pick one that had a good chance of OCing pretty high. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

yea but its trueamd is way faster and more stable at lower speeds than most intels cause intel just blows.

ok i'm just going to say this once so listen up really close.... you have to be either a troll looking to derail this thread or else the stupidest human being placed on this planet.....

amd hasn't had a competitive cpu to intel for almost 2 years now..... intel's budget cpu's can kick the *** of the best amd cpu in almost every benchmark....

if amd doesn't actually come up with a decent cpu in the next year or so they may just pack their bags and become a budget no name cpu company....

maybe you should try posting actual proof of the garbage you spit out instead of trying to sway someone that may not know any better....

i'm going with the fact that you're a troll because nobody can be this slow and still have the capacity to keep their lungs breathing air.....

To the OP.... how much are you willing to spend and I can set you up with a parts list ..... i'll also need to know exactly what you need this comp for... is it just gaming??? do you want to use it as a home entertainment center?????

Well I'm looking at around 2 to 4 hundred. I want it to be used for gaming plus all my school work, watching movies etc.

but I have 2 ide hard drives, a case, a 400 watt PSU and IDK if the Ram will work or not. LMK man.

i'll put something together for you after the world series game lol....

i'll send you links to all the products on newegg as they seem to be the most reasonable in price on most items..... $400 will get you a sweet system since you already have some parts....

do you honestly think amd has no answer? please, they will leave intel in a sramble just like when the 64 bit chip came out.

do you honestly think amd has no answer? please, they will leave intel in a sramble just like when the 64 bit chip came out.

oh where is this answer????

do you mean barcelona???

oh yeah it's being trounced in every benchmark by intel's shittiest cpu's.....

do you mean some out of whack cpu that they haven't even come up with yet????

since they've lost millions of $ in the last 24 months there is talk that they may need to find some sort of huge money influx or they may be out of business....

when the 64 bit chip came out they were on top for less than a year.... intel has been there for almost 2 years now.... amd's latest to come out is already going to be trounced by intel's newest to come cpu and architecture.....

so when again is this supposed to happen for amd???? even they've said they can't compete for performance and said they may just go for budget like they've done with vid cards.... the timeline where intel has ALREADY beaten amd goes till the end of 2009 so when exactly is this fairytale you talk about going to happen... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

"amd's latest to come out is already going to be trounced by intel's newest to come cpu and architecture"

lol... If AMD doesn't come up with something better than that stupid 64 core, I'm going to be sad...

Oh, BTW nothing Intel has done has been "innovative," AMD's 64bits was much more innovative than anything they have done. Also I don't really see any processors going anywhere UNLESS something truly innovative does happen.
