Building a new computer....

actually an amd running at 1.3 mhz (or ghz i forget which one is used.) is actually more stable than a intel dual core/ core 2 duo at 2.8 ghz/mhz
Says who?

Don't get my wrong, I'm an AMD fanboy, but I hope you didn't hurt yourself the way you just pulled that outta your ***

newegg has quick processing and fast shipping so like everyone else was saying newegg = //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/2thumbs.gif.fdc3ba010dbb42b61704534b46d02fe4.gif they have some pretty good prices on vid cards on there too i picked up and 8600gts vid card for 169

7600 won't do squat in todays games if you raise the graphics above middle. I'm running two 7800gt's in SLI (overclocked to 554/1300) and they're struggling in most of the newer games. I'd definitely go with one of the one's I suggested (gpu, that is).

680/650i mobo, and a c2d should do you fine then

Edit:

Duh on s775 lol

And I never said ati doesn't have dx10 cards, I said they're lacking in that department, because they're cards ****.
Sorry about that misread it.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Actually ATI does have Dx10 cards but I would not recommend them, drivers issues out of the demon hole. As far as SLI I agree it uses a ton more power creates more heat and all and all a PITA unless your looking to run balls to the wall. As far as AMD vs. Intel it depends on your budget you can get an AMD x2 5000+ black edition (unlocked multiplier) for like $100 on newegg and its a strong performer.

And to the OP, I have a 7900GTX laying around if you're interested pm me.
YGPM and that AMD processor is right where I wanted to spend. Next up is a MOBO.

Ahh people post too fast.

So:

8600=crap for the price

newegg/tigerdirect= awesomeness

vista=10/10

me=cool //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Lol, the only advantages over a 7800/7900 are dx10 (although its pointless to use it for that), and its fancy outputs. Plus it's not nearly as much as one.

Whatever though, "budget cards" are not meant for gaming with much visuals.

Make sure you get yourself a good, high-quality power supply. Too many computers are throttled by their PS. Especially if you're going to run SLI, although it seems you may have already ditched that idea, which is a good thing.

I also love AMD, and while I'll acknowledge that at the moment Intel is winning the performance race, I think this is mainly only a factor in the overclocking world, which it doesn't seem is a big deal to you.
