Building a box in pieces

I'm about to add a different box in my car, I'm going with 2 MTX 9500's this time with a Memphis 1500d on each one.

My question:

Because of the shape of the opening in my trunk, I can't just build the box and set it in there, the opening is tiny, although the trunk is huge, and I'd like to take better advantage of the large space. I will have to build the box in pieces, and join them together inside the trunk. I was wondering what the best way to join the gaps together. My thought was to make little pieces that overlap, and just seal them and screw them together as I'm going. Has anyone else done this, and if so, any tips are appreciated.

What kind of car ? It can be done but it's kind of difficult without knowing what kind of car. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Here's some pictures of what I'm talking about. The box that's in there sounds great, but because of the limitations on getting it in and out of the trunk, there's 8 inches on each side of the box, and it comes back way further than it needs to because of that. There's no way that it'll fit in from the front, especially with the box I want to build, since the back will be much wider than the front to accomodate a 7 cubic ft. box. Once the box is in there, I'd imagine I'll pretty much have to destroy it to get it out.
